Arrows’ survival hopes rise

Red Arrows survival hopes were enhanced after beating 2013 champions Nkana 2-0 away at Nkana Stadium in Kitwe in both sides penultimate FAZ Super League game of the 2014 season.

Arrows rise from fourth from bottom in 13th place up to tenth after the win on 35 points from 29 matches with one match to go.

The two sides went into break deadlocked before Paul Katema put Arrows ahead in the 4Arrows-2-3007th minute.

Striker Francis Kombe returned to haunt his employers’ when he scored Arrows second goal in the 73rd minute after rounding defender Amos Simwanza before beating goalkeeper Rabson Muchelenganga.

Kombe joined Arrows on a half-a-season loan move from Nkana in July.

Arrows fate will be decided on November 22 when they host Faz Super League title contenders’ Zanaco who beat them 2-0 in the first leg league meeting on June 29. <.P>

Meanwhile, Arrows will also be following very closely Sundays’ proceedings involving Kabwe Warriors and Green Buffaloes who are just below them in twelfth and and thirteenth on 34 and 33 points respectively.

Nkana on the other hand stay put in fourth place after suffering their eighth league defeat of the season on 49 points, eight points behind overnight leaders Zanaco with one match left to play.
