UK’s commitment to overseas development still undiminished – Thornton

British High Commissioner to Zambia James Thornton says the UK’s commitment to overseas development still remains undiminished.

Mr. Thornton says the United Kingdom being the first major industrialized economy to meet the United Nations target for official development assistant set 40 years, still maintains a substantial assistance to Zambia in the sectors of Education and Health.

He says this is in addition to the unblocking Zambia’s constraints to wealth creation and supporting the country in bringing advanced marketing mechanism to the Agriculture sector.

Mr. Thornton has told Qfm News in an interview that Britain therefore values its relationship with Zambia.

He says despite this relationship evolving, he is however hopeful that it will continue to be very strong.

The British High Commissioner states that this has been already demonstrated by Queen Elizabeth herself who sent a personal representative to attend the funeral of late President Michael Sata.
