Golden Jubilee Michael Sata Express Passenger Train launched

The Zambia Railways Limited (ZRL) has officially launched its golden jubilee Michael Sata express passenger train.
The state of the art passenger train will run between Kitwe and Livingstone.

Speaking at the launch in Lusaka today, Transport, Works, Supply and Communication Minister Yamfwa Mukanga observed that the launch of the train has come at a time two major developments of the country’s attaining the golden jubilee and the passing of President Michael Sata.

Mr. Mukanga says this is why the train has been named Golden Jubilee Michael Sata Express to commemorate Zambia’s jubilee and honor the late president Sata.

He says the launch of the train is also based on the vision that the late president Sata had to improve service delivery to the Zambian people.

Mr. Mukanga says the PF government will therefore continue investing in the railway transport to improve service delivery.

He has however cautioned members of the public who will be using the train not to vandalize it in honor of late president Sata especially that it has been named after him.

And Mwelwa Sata the daughter of the late president who represented the first late Christine Kaseba at the launch, expressed happiness that her late father has been honored in this way.

Speaking earlier ZRL board chairperson Davies Chama made an assurance that the board will not disappoint government in making sure that the vision that it has to improve service delivery in the railway transport is achieved.
