Losing Siavonga Constituency Patriotic Front (PF) Parliamentary candidate during 2011 elections, Lovemore Kanyama has appealed to the Ministry of Lands to help secure customary land for the local people in Chiawa and Chirundu.

Mr. Kanyama has told Qfm news a in a telephone interview that despite the complaints by the residents in Chiawa, government through the ministry of Lands has done little to address the matter.

Mr Kanyama says the situation requires the urgent attention of government to prevent people in the area from turning into destitutes.

A few months ago acting President Guy Scott warned investors operating in the area not to take advantage of the local people.

Dr.Scott also stressed the need for traditional leaders to put local people as first priority by in that their land is protected from unscrupulous investors.
