YALI hails Archbishop Mpundu

The Young African Leaders Initiative (YALI) has hailed Lusaka Catholic Archbishop Telesphore Mpundu’s call for political parties not to base their 2015 Presidential by-election campaigns on tribal lines.

In his Homily message during late President Michael Sata’s requiem mass yesterday, Archbishop Mpundu also called for a violence free 2015 Presidential by-election.

In an interview with Qfm News, YALI Governance Advisor Isaac Mwanza says his organization is urging political parties in the country to heed the advice that has been rendered by the Catholic priest.Mpundu

Mr. Mwanza says his organization is also encouraging political parties to choose Presidential candidates who will have the heart to unity the country in an event that they won the by-election.

He says such presidential candidates should also rise above partisan politics once elected.

Mr. Mwanza says this is how development in country can be realized, and sustain what the late President Sata has done.

He says YALI is additionally urging electorates to concentrate on the message that each of the Presidential candidates will give as opposed to their tribe.
