African Union Chairperson Nkosazana Dlamini-Zuma says President Michael Sata’s legacy will be enduring.
In her tribute to President Sata on behalf of the African Union, Dr. Dlamini-Zuma says President Sata lived a long and remarkable life.
Dr Dlamini-Zuma says President Sata’s hands on approach, accessibility to ordinary people and his commitment to improve services for the people are some of the qualities that he took into office following his election in as President in 2011.
She notes that Zambia has made remarkable progress in the last few years, pointing to the fact that Zambia is among the fastest growing economies on the continent with continued improvement in human development.
The AU Chairperson says as a convinced Pan-Africanist, which is a key characteristic of the Zambian people; the late President Sata hardly missed the AU summit.
Dr Dlamini-Zuma says President Sata always spoke his mind and was never a captive of protocol.
And Zimbabwean and SADC Chairperson Robert Mugabe says a dark heavy crowd hangs over Zambia, Southern Africa and the entire continent.
President Mugabe says President Sata’s death is a huge loss.
He says as African leader they are proud to come to Zambia to salute a hero who sought to change the global arena for the better.
