TALC calls for ‘health seeking behavior’

Treatment Advocacy and Literacy Campaign (TALC) has re-emphasized the need for people in the country to continuously improve their health seeking behaviors.

Programmes Manager Felix Mwanza says his organization is particularly saddened that a high percentage of people with HIV/AIDS die before seeking treatment.

Mr. Mwanza says such deaths can be prevented if people especially sexually active men learn to do regular medical check ups as well as voluntary counseling and testing after every six months.

He notes that his organization has generally found that men have a poor health seeking attitudes and only wait until things have gone to the worst for them to seek medical attention.

Mr. Mwanza states that men should emulate women who immediately they do not feel well quickly seek treatment.

He says this is what TALC thinks will greatly help reduce the death rate of men who die before seeking treatment.

Mr. Mwanza has since advised men to desist from risk behavior such as excessive drinking of alcohol, having multiple sexual partners and having un-protective sex.
