ZP urged to warn politicians instigating violence

The Independent Churches of Zambia (ICOZ) says Police should warn politicians who instigate cadres to resort to violence and not the cadres themselves.

ICOZ Board Chairperson David Masupa says political cadres are like messengers who follow orders given to them, thus the need to identify the root cause.

Bishop Masupa says the decision by the Zambia Police Service to ban any form of protests during the mourning period is welcome, but that they should come up with stiff measures to deter politicians from using cadres to fight their battles.

Bishop Masupa has told QFM News in an interview that it is embarrassing that politicians have continued to send cadres to fight their battles while they remain in the comfort of their homes.

Meanwhile, Evangelical Youth Alliance International Executive Director Moses Lungu says Police should not operate as if they are still a Police force, but a Police service.

Reverend Lungu says Police are fully aware that the architects of protests and other negative vices are politicians who should be their target.
