Queen Elizabeth to send representation to Sata’s funeral

Her Royal Highness the Countess of Wessex, the wife of Queen Elizabeth’s youngest son, Edward will represent the Queen during the State funeral of late President Michael Sata on 11th November.

British High Commissioner to Zambia James Thornton in a statement issued to QFM News today says the Countess of Wassex will visit Zambia from 10-11 November, 2014.

Mr Thornton adds that the UK Government will also be represented at the funeral by a senior Minister, Lord Popat of Harrow.

Mr Thornton says the British Government is greatly saddened by the death of President Sata.

He states that he is pleased that a leading member of the Royal Family will represent Her Majesty at the State funeral, and that a British Government Minister will also pay his respects.

Lord Popat represented Queen Elizabeth the second at the send off for the late President Michael Chilufya Sata at the Royal Suite at Heathrow on 31 October.
