PF have now realized the need to have a new constitution – Saunders

Political Activist Dante Saunders has charged that there is no doubt that the ruling Patriotic Front (PF) has realized that the country needs a new republican constitution.

Mr. Saunders says the PF has now seen the gaps that exist in the current constitution and that they will pay close attention to the enactment of the new supreme law of the land.

He states that some articles in the constitution such as Articles 38 and 39 are too difficult for even lawyers to interpret thus the need to have a new constitution.

He says Zambia has never had a good constitution since getting independence in 1994.

He adds that all the successive governments have attempted to give the people a good constitution that will address gaps in the current constitution but all in vain.

Mr. Saunders says the death of President Sata has exposed lapses in the current constitution and heightened the need for a new constitution.

Mr. Saunders was speaking in an interview with QFM News.
