Phiri backs Scott

Zambia Rainbow Coalition president Cleophas Phiri has charged it is mischievous for anyone to suggest that Dr Guy Scott does not qualify to act as president following the death of President Michael Sata.

Mr. Phiri has told Qfm news in an interview that he does not see the need for some sections of society not to support Dr. Scott during this difficult time for the country.

He notes that this is why it is very important for people to support calls by the majority Zambians to have a constitution that will stand a taste of time to avoid such situations.

Mr Lungu says for now the constitution is clear and it does not segregate Dr. Scott from acting as republican president because of his colour.

He says Dr Scott needs to be supported and not antagonized simply because he is white.

Mr. Phiri has since expressed hope that the country will have a peaceful mourning period until President Michael Sata is put to rest on Tuesday next week.
