Zambians urged to remain calm, peaceful as they mourn Sata

Zambians have been called upon to remain calm and peaceful if the late republican President Michael Sata is to be mourned with the honor and dignity he deserves.

Southern African Center for the Constructive Resolution of Disputes (SACCORD) Executive Director Boniface Cheembe has made the call.

Mr Cheembe, who has expressed his sympathies to the former first family and the people of Zambia on the death of President Sata, says his organization is further calling for unity among Zambians as the country mourns the late republican President.

In an interview with Qfm News, Mr. Cheembe says SACCORD finds it particularly commendable that trade unions have also postponed their planned demonstrations against the wage freeze until after the burial of late President Sata.

Mr. Cheembe states that his organization believes that setting aside some time to mourn the late Head of State as the trade unions have done is what Zambians should continue doing when they have bereavements of magnitude.

He says SACCORD however, still holds the position that dialogue over the wage freeze between government and unions is the only way forward.

Mr. Cheembe notes that this is because his organization strongly believes that there is no problem that cannot be resolved through dialogue.
