Kabimba denies missing late Sata’s presidential guard of honor

Former Patriotic Front (PF) Secretary General Wynter Kabimba has dismissed assumptions that he shunned the arrival of President Michael Sata’s body from the United Kingdom on Saturday yesterday at the Kenneth Kaunda International Airport where a presidential guard of honor was mounted.

This follows some insinuations that he may have shunned the presidential guard of honor owing to the fact that not so many people saw him at the Airport.

But Mr. Kabimba who is also former Justice Minister has told Qfm News by telephone that just as he attended the presidential guard of honor he will also attend the body viewing of the late President which has since been opened for the public at Lusaka’s Mulungushi International Conference center.

And asked how he thought unity in the ruling PF should be maintained now that President Sata has died, Mr. Kabimba has said that he is no longer responsible for such areas anymore because he is only an ordinary citizen.

He notes that the people that are on the other hand responsible for such party functions are acting president Guy Scott who is also the ruling party’s president and the party Secretary General Edgar Lungu who is also Justice and Defense Minister.

Mr. Kabimba says as an ordinary citizen he is also particularly looking forward to hearing Dr. Scott and Mr. Kabimba answer the question on how unity will be sustained in the ruling party following the death of the republican President who was also PF party President.

He says the fact that he is not in charge anymore he does not know at present whether or not the ruling PF will emerge strong and united after the death of Mr. Sata who formed it.

The former PF Secretary General however states that he thinks that unity in the PF is what every loyal member should be hoping for.
