Chisunka calls on govt to give loans to farmers of his Chiefdom

Chief Chisunka of the Aushi speaking people of Mansa District in Luapula Province has called on government to consider giving out agriculture loans to farmers in his chiefdom to enable them double production.

Chief Chisunka has told QFM News in a telephone interview that farmers in his chiefdom have the strength to double their production, but that they lack production equipment.

The Tradition Leader says farmers in his chiefdom always want to produce more but that it is difficult for them to do so due to lack of equipment.

He says it is for this reason that government and other relevant stakeholders must consider loaning farmers equipment that will help them to double their production.

He adds that farmers in his chiefdom have been asking him on the possibility of them acquiring agriculture loans or any other agriculture empowerment for them to improved farming techniques.

He has since appealed to Agriculture and Livestock Minister Wilbur Simuusa to consider loaning farmers with equipment not just in his chiefdom but across the country, saying the move will go a long way.
