President Sata’s body lies-in-state

The Body of late Republican President Michael Sata is lying in state at the Mulungushi International Conference Centre in Lusaka after arriving from London this morning where he died.

President Sata died on Tuesday, October 28th at London’s King Edward VII hospital where he had gone to seek medical treatment.

Acting President Guy Scott, his wife Charlotte and former first Lady Dr Christine Kaseba laid wreaths on the late President’s casket during a brief wreath laying ceremony at Mulungushi International Conference Centre.

Earlier, the chartered plane carrying the remains of late President touched down at Kenneth Kaunda International Airport amid a somber atmosphere.

As the late President’s casket was brought out the plane by military personnel, most people who had turned up at the airport could not hold their emotions as they broke into tears, with some people collapsing.

Scores of people lined up along airport road through to the Great East road to catch a glimpse of the casket of the late President which was placed on a gun-carriage to Mulungushi International Conference Centre.

Members of the general public will tomorrow, Sunday be accorded an opportunity to pay their last respects to the late President at Mulungushi International Conference Centre from 12:00hrs to 18:00hrs.
