Sata was an anti graft crusader – ZYAFAC

Zambia Youth Association in the Fight Against Corruption (ZYAFAC) says late President Michael Sata has left a legacy worth remembering by the young generation in his quest to fight corruption.

ZYAFAC Executive Director Rickson Kanema has told QFM News in a telephone interview that President Sata is among the few African leaders to who have allowed their ministers be investigated for corruption.

Mr. Kanema recalls that President Sata dropped some of his ministers when they faced allegations of corruption to pave way for effective investigations.

Mr. Kanema says the late President will be remembered for setting an example that even ministers were not immune when it comes to fighting corruption.

Meanwhile Christians Against Poverty in Zambia (CAPIZ) President Gregory Chileshe, has described President Sata as a mentor and role model who inspired many young people.

Evangelist Chileshe adds that President Sata’s will always be remembered for his vision of ending corruption in the country.

And the Zambia Union of Journalists says it received news of the passing on of Republican President Michael Sata with great sadness.

ZUJ General Secretary Angela Chishimba in a statement issued today says the President will be remembered as a leader who believed in a free press, as seen during his reign.

Ms Chishimba says during President Sata’s reign, there was high level of freedom in terms of journalists expressing themselves.

She says union’s thoughts are with First Lady Dr Christine Kaseba-Sata and the entire family at this moment of grief.
