REA’s plan to electrify more rural areas hampered by inadequate funding

Rural Electrification Authority (REA) says its plans to electrify more rural areas in the country are hampered by inadequate funding.

REA Corporate Affairs Manager Justice Mukosa says though a number of rural areas have so far been connected to electricity, there is still room to connect more.

Mr. Mukosa says the electrification of some rural areas has resulted in an improvement in their ways of life as well as helped people in those areas contribute positively to the development the country.

He notes that in the modern world where everything is changing, it is important that people have access to electricity so that they are able to move at the same rate with those in urban areas.

Mr Mukosa further states that as long as there is enough funding, REA will continue to connect as many rural areas as possible to electricity for a better Zambia.
