CAPIZ opposes cross symbol for political party

Christians against Poverty in Zambia (CAPIZ) has appealed to the Registrar of Societies to reject the ‘cross’ symbol proposed by the Fourth Revolutionary Party, stating that it is a mockery to the body of Christ.

CAPIZ President Gregory Chileshe has told QFM News in an interview that there are many symbols the opposition party can chose other than the sacred cross.

Evangelist Chileshe says all well meaning people should therefore condemn in the strongest terms the proposal by the Fourth Revolutionary Party.

He says such proposals make sad readings and are a mockery to the church.

Evangelist Chileshe adds that it is sad that some politicians want to use the name of Christ in politics of hatred.

Evangelist Chileshe says it is for this reason that government through the Ministry of Home Affairs should come out clearly and state its position on the proposal by the Fourth Revolutionary party to use the Holy Cross as a party symbol.
