Britain’s Elizabeth congratulates Zambia

Queen Elizabeth the Second has congratulated President Michael Sata on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of Zambia’s independence.

In her congratulatory message to President Sata, Queen Elizabeth says she has fond memories of her visits to Zambia in 1947 and 1979, and is delighted that the Princess Royal and the Earl of Wessex were able to visit recently.

The Queen has since wished the Zambian people the best.

And British High Commissioner to Zambia, James Thornton has also congratulated President Michael Sata and the people of Zambia on the country’s attainment of 50 years of independence.

Mr. Thornton says he is happy that the UK Prime Minister has sent The Lord Andrew Turnbull to represent him at the celebration.

He states that the visit by Lord Turnbull is a further sign of the strength of the relationship between the UK and Zambia.
