EIZ, Hua Chang inks K46.7m construction deal

The Engineering Institute of Zambia (EIZ) has signed a contract worth K46.7 million with a Chinese company Hua Chang Infrastructure for the construction of its new Head Office in Lusaka.

The new EIZ Head office which will be situated in the show grounds, will house a 400 square meters office space, 520 sitters auditoriums, a double storey car park for 200 cars, a water feature in front of the building and onsite electricity generation through solar energy.

Speaking during the signing ceremony in Lusaka today, EIZ vice president for finance and administration Peter Kapala said the signed contract embodies a dream for the institute to see its new headquarters on the latest development projects in the heart of Lusaka.

Mr. Kapala says the EIZ head office whose construction is expected to be completed by November 2016, will support the requirements for the success of the institute which is also consistent with its future goals and aspiration.

He explains that the EIZ has found it fit to construct a new Headquarters facility that would consolidate its operations into one building in view of its over 12, 000 annual membership which is expected to significantly grow owing to the expansion of membership categories  introduced through the EIZ Act No. 17 of 2010.

Mr Kapala has stated that with this new Head office, his institute will render effective service to its members as well as carry on its mandate of regulating the engineering professional practice on behalf of the government.

And Hua Chang Infrastructure Executive Manager Siemen Zhang has pledge his company’s commitment to finish the project on time as stipulated in the contract.
