Abuse of office clause not helping – Lifuka

Former Transparency International (TIZ) president Reuben Lifuka has observed that the abuse of office clause has not helped in eliminating corruption.

Mr. Lifuka has told Qfm news in an interview that it is worrying and saddening to note that corruption has continued showing its ugly head despite the measures put in place to combat the vice.

Mr. Lifuka says there is need for relevant law enforcement agencies to take a step further in following up cases cited in the auditor general’s report.

He says thorough investigations should be instituted against those cited for abuse of public funds.

Mr. Lifuka has since commended the Anti Corruption Commission (ACC) for its interest in following up some cases which have attracted a lot of interest from the public in the recent months.
