Sikota cautions PF against symbolizing colonialism

Opposition United Liberal Party President Sakwiba Sikota has charged that failure to release the final draft constitution within the promised week of Jubilee will symbolize a mentality of colonialism on the part of PF government.

The Grand Coalition has disclosed that during its meeting with Justice Minister Edgar Lungu on Thursday, 16th October, he promised that the final draft constitution will be released within the week starting 20th October 2014.

In an interview with Qfm News, Mr. Sikota says should the government default on this promise; it will symbolize a colonial government that refuses to give the people of Zambia a new constitution 50 years after independence.

Mr. Sikota says he personally does not see any conceivable reason why the PF government should continue to hold on to the final draft constitution.

He says government should ensure that the nation moves forward in the constitution making process.

The ULP leader says the government has an obligation to Zambian people to release the final draft constitution.
