Govt poised at mechanizing agriculture

Government says it is working at mechanizing agriculture production in a bid to double the food production levels to maximize on national food security.

Defence Deputy Minister Joseph Lungu has told QFM News in an interview that his ministry is ensuring that Zambia National Service (ZNS) doubles its agricultural production in accordance with President Michael Sata’s recent directive.

Colonel Lungu has assured that the ZNS is able to produce food to the satisfaction of the Zambian people and the surplus exported to other countries.

Colonel Lungu says following the President’s directive this year, his ministry is closely monitoring the production of ZNS to ensure they perform to expectation.

Colonel Lungu, who is also Msanzala PF Member of Parliament, says people should expect more production from ZNS next year as compared to this year%u2019s production.
