MNCRD’s education sensitizations set for rural areas

Media Network on Child Rights and Development (MNCRD) says it has targeted to sensitize people in rural areas on the importance of education.

MNCRD Executive Director Henry Kabwe says his organizations wants children in rural areas to have access to education just like any other child.

Mr. Kabwe says most children in rural areas are not aware of their education rights and do not understand the importance of education hence the need for them to be sensitized so that they value education.

He adds that children whether in rural or urban areas have the potential to contribute to the economic development of the nation in future, stating that it is therefore important that they are educated as a way of preparing them for the future.

Mr. Kabwe says government alone cannot manage to sensitize people on the importance of education but needs concerted efforts from various stakeholders.

He further states that if Zambia has to meet the millennium development goal on education, children in rural areas should be given an opportunity and encouraged to go to school stressing that this will also help reduce the poverty levels in the country.
