Declare water crisis an emergency – UPND

Opposition United Party for National Development (UPND) Vice President for politics Canisius Banda has wondered why the water blues that hit Kitwe’s Wusakile township and other urban centers in the country has not been declared an emergency.

Dr Banda in a statement made available to QFM News that the water situation has reached a critical stage.

He has called on the Patriotic Front to immediately fulfill their electoral promise to the residents of Wusakile townships of providing them with quality drinking water as promised during the recent local government by-election.

Dr Banda says it is shameful that people should be suffering due to lack of quality water when the township is on the banks of the Kafue River.

He also accused the PF of having heavily politicised the issue of the water problem in Wusakile during the local government by election by telling the electorates not to vote for the UPND candidate because he would not deliver development such as addressing the water and sanitation problems in the area.

The UPND vice president states that the culture of blackmailing voters with impunity and later abandon them is not only a sin, but it creates a complete lack of voter confidence in the electoral system and foments anarchy.
