Zambia Environmental Management Agency (ZEMA) has encouraged Zambians to celebrate the country’s 50th independence anniversary by uplifting the their living standard through promotion of environmental protection by addressing waste management.
ZEMA Communications manager Ireen Chipili told QFM in an interview that Zambians should celebrate 50 years of independence by realizing the importance of protecting the environment if the country is to attain meaningful national development.
Ms Chipili says both urban and rural development depends on the effective and good conversation of the environment as well as protection of natural resources.
She notes that the country has been experiencing a number of problems in the area of waste management as well as air pollution due to lack of cooperation from the public.
Ms Chipili states that members of general public play an important role in bringing about national development.
