Surveillance cameras reducing drug pilfering – Chilufya

Government says the installation of surveillance cameras in health institutions has helped reduce cases of drug pilfering.

Health Deputy Minister Chitalu Chilufya has told Qfm in an interview that drug pilfering had been on the increase leading to drug shortages in the country.

Dr Chilufya notes that following the installation of surveillance cameras, health personnel are now afraid to stealing drugs because they are aware they are being monitored.

He adds that government is working hard to ensure that the installation of CCTV cameras is extended to all the health institutions in the country.

Dr Chilufya has further reiterated government’s commitment to ensuring that there is no shortage of drugs resulting from pilfering in hospitals.
