Govt urged to promote value addition among SMEs

Action Aid Zambia Economic Justice Officer Patrick Nshindano has urged government to look towards promoting value addition among small and medium enterprises (SMEs).

Mr. Nshindano says government should look at ways of promoting small businesses involved in value addition by helping them build capacity and give them capital so that they are able to compete with other players internationally.

And Mr. Nshindano says the people of Zambia are anxious to see what the sovereign wealth fund that has been allocated K100 million in the 2015 national budget will do for them.

He has however advised government to identify key areas in which to invest the sovereign wealth fund so that the people of Zambia benefit from the fund.

Mr. Nshindano says the sovereign wealth fund should be able to grow other sectors that will require capital injection from government.

Mr Nshindano further states that failure to identify key areas in which to invest the sovereign wealth fund will result in the money allocated to the fund being misused which should not be the case.
