Lungu shocs Hikaumba over constitutition

The Zambia Congress of Trade Unions (ZCTU) has expressed shock at the recent statement by Justice Minister Edgar Lungu expressing doubt on the possibility of releasing the final draft constitution during the country’s golden jubilee celebration.

ZCTU president Leonard Hikaumba has told Qfm news in an interview that it is unfortunate that tax payers’ money has continued to be used on programs that are not bearing any fruit.

Mr. Hikaumba says it will be only be fair for government to reflect and think of how much tax payers money has been spent on the constitution making process before issuing disturbing statements.

He explains that it also important for government to think of the civil servants whose demands have been pending for years because resources are being channeled to programs such as the constitution making process.

Mr. Hikaumba says the labour movement wants to see the final draft constitution released so that other pending activities aimed at building the nation can be looked instead of wasting more time and resources on the same thing.
