Zambia’s jubilee an opportunity for reflection – SACCORD

The Southern African Center for the Constructive Resolution of Disputes (SACCORD) says Zambia’s jubilee offers an opportunity to reflect on where the country can make improvements from what has been achieved in the last 50 years of independence.

Executive Director Boniface Cheembe says SACCORD however, believes that people that have decided not to participate in the commemoration of the Jubilee, which falls on 24th October this year, should not be demonized.

Mr.Cheembe says this is because shunning the Jubilee celebrations in itself is also part of the reflection.

He says by shunning this day, those who have decided to dos so are pointing out the many areas that need to be improved upon in the country such as the enactment of the new people driven constitution among other national concerns.

Mr. Cheembe tells Qfm news that what is on the other hand important is not to put aside the aspect of reflecting and the issue of what needs to be done going forward now that the country has turned 50 years old.
