Govt to pursue Chinese contractor at UTH

Labour Minister Fackson Shamenda says his ministry will pursue the Chinese contractor constructing wards at the Cancer Diseases Hospital at the UTH who has been allegedly bragging that he has corrupted official at the ministry and nothing can be done to him for breaching labor laws.

The contractor Huachang Infrastructure Engineering Company has allegedly been bragging to his workers that officials at the ministry of labour are corrupt and that he has bribed them.

But Mr Shamenda has told Qfm news in a telephone interview that the contractor is playing with fire for insinuating that the PF government is corrupt.

Mr. Shamenda says the contractor will soon be fixed for his malicious allegations.

He says it is unfortunate that the contractor has gone to the extent of even asking his workers to ask President Michael Sata for increases in their salaries when it is his responsibility to pay workers.

The Labour Minister says officers from his ministry have already been sent to the site to verify any other information with the workers.
