Mumena reaffirms support to refugees

Chief Mumena of the Kaonde people in Zambia’s North-Western province town of Solwezi has re-affirmed his chiefdoms’ support and commitment to helping the refugees in Maheba resettlement area in North Western province.

Chief Mumena has also commended the efforts government and United Nations High Commission for Refugees (UNHCR) has put in place to move forward the local integration programme.

He has however emphasized the need for infrastructure development in education, health and agriculture, in order for the local integration of former refugees to be sustainable.

The traditional leader has further praised the various developmental activities UNHCR, together with government, has embarked on so far in his area.
