UTH to hold jubilee surgical camp

The University Teaching Hospital (UTH) says it will hold a Jubilee surgical camp were patients with pending surgical appointments will be attended to as a jubilee present to the Zambian people as the country marks the 50th golden Jubilee.

UTH Public Relations Officer Mwenya Mulenga has told Qfm in an interview that during the surgical camp they are targeting to conduct 400 surgical operations on patients who have on the waiting list for a number of months.

Mr Mulenga stresses that the exercise is not for new cases but specifically for those patients that have been waiting to be operated on for a long time.

He says the hospital is hopeful that through the jubilee surgical camp, most of the pending surgical cases will be attended to which in turn help decongest the hospital and pave way for new patients to come through.

Mr Mulenga notes that the exercise is expected to run for two weeks with the aim of achieving the target of operating on 400 patients.
