TALC calls for quick decentralization of drug kits distribution

Treatment Advocacy and Literacy Campaign (TALC) has appealed to the government to quickly decentralize the distribution of drug kits.

TALC Executive Director Felix Mwanza has told Qfm in an interview that with the rainy season around the corner, a number of places will be cut off thereby affecting the distribution of drugs especially the supply of antiretroviral drugs.

Mr. Mwanza notes that the only way to ensure that far and usually flooded areas have a continuous supply of essential drugs is by ensuring that they access supplies from nearby drugs storage facilities.

He says if provincial centers can be made into central stores to distribute ARVs to districts, it will help speed up the process of replenishing stocks in areas affected by floods during the rainy season.

Mr. Mwanza has however commended government for planning to intensify the distribution of drug kits noting that this will go a long way in helping people living with HIV/AIDS.
