Cost of doing business impacting economic growth – Dodia

Private Sector Development Association (PSDA) Chairperson Yusuf Dodia has observed that the high cost of doing business in the country is having a negative impact on the economic and investment growth of the country.

Mr. Dodia notes that currently, Zambia is importing more than it is exporting making it difficult for the country to participate in increasing business opportunities prevailing in the region.

He says there is need for statutory bodies to address challenges that come with the high cost of doing business in the country.

Mr. Dodia adds that there is need for the government to ensure it puts stringent measures in place that will make key economic sectors such as mining, agriculture, construction among others viable and attract more foreign and local investment.

He further states that he is hopeful that government will in this year’s national budget realign its focus by concentrating on key development sectors.
