ABZ advises govt to focus on domestic revenue generation

Alliance for Better Zambia President Frank Bwalya says the people of Zambia are looking forward to a 2015 National Budget that will focus on domestic generation of revenue.

Father Frank Bwalya says this is the reason why government should bend down to suggestions of reintroducing windfall tax in next year’s national budget.

Father Bwalya has told QFM News that by doing so; government will be assuring citizens of deriving maximum benefits from the country’s mineral resources.

He has observed that the mining sector has the potential to raise revenue for investment in other sectors such as education, health, and agriculture hence the need to put in place a policy that will enable the country get more money from the mines.

Fr Bwalya says he believes that the country has lost huge sums of money because government has been reluctant to reintroduce windfall tax which in turn has resulted in increased external borrowing for the country.

The ABZ Leader has also expressed hope that the 2015 national budget will facilitate diversification of the Zambian economy by strengthening the agriculture sector.
