PF takes Vubwi, Zambezi, Mkushi seats

The ruling Patriotic Front (PF) has won the Vubwi parliamentary by-elections with a landmark victory.

Margaret Miti of the ruling PF has polled in 3797 votes to beat her closest rival MMD’s Eustarkio Kazonga who has got 1091 votes.

Dr. Kazonga was followed by UPND’s Alfonso Phiri with 761 votes and in the fourth place Charles Nyoka of the FDD has got 649 votes while UNIP’s Lucas Phiri has trailed in the fifth place with 395 votes.

In the Zambezi West Parliamentary by-election PF’s candidate Christabel Ngimbu has won the elections with 1400 votes followed by UPND’s Charles Kakoma with 1200 votes.

MMD’s Prisca Kucheka has polled in 500 votes and FDD’s Mark Kachongo has 300 votes with the Great Party’s Kayombo Chilala getting only 28 votes.

Meanwhile in the Solwezi Central by-election Dawson Kafwaya of the UPND has won the election with 4577 votes.

His nearest opponent of the ruling PF Newton Malwa got 3, 105 votes while Lucky Mulusa for the MMD has got 1, 897 votes while FDD’s Kabwita Mulonga has got 304 with Mary Katiki of UNIP being the least with 158 votes.

And in the Kasenengwa Parliamentary by-election Victoria Kalima of the MMD is headed for victory with 10, 936 votes.

Ms. Kalima is followed by PF’s Gideon Zulu with 3, 489 votes while UPND’s Timothy Nyirenda has polled in 439 votes with UNIP’s Kumbizya Daka getting 280 votes.

From Mkushi South the PF’s candidate Davies Chisopa is leading with 1954 votes followed by Sydney Chisanga with UPND’s Agness Mambwe polling 948 votes.

This is from the votes counted from 18 polling stations with 4 more yet to be counted.
