Cape Verde slay Zambia

Cape Verde roaring start in the 2015 AFCON qualifiers continued when they floored Zambia 2-1 in Praia on Wednesday.

The result continued a forgettable week for Zambia who drew 0-0 at home with Mozambique in their opening Group F match last Saturday.

It got worse for them in the buildup to Cape Verde match when they made a nine hour journey to the Islands on the day of the match after a 48 hour delay in their departure due to logistical problems in sourcing a charter plane.

Ze Luis put Cape verde ahead in the 32nd minute to give The Blue Sharks a 1-0 lead into the break in a first 45 minutes they dominated.

Jacob Mulenga equalised for Zambia in the 54th minute with a close range shot.

However, Ryan Mendes put the result beyond doubt in the 75th minute to see Cape Verde garner maximum six points from their opening two Group F matches.

Zambia are third on one point, tied with bottom placed Niger while Mozambique are second with two points.

Action resumes on October 10 when Zambia visit Niger while Cape verde travel to Mozambique.
