ZCTU praise Lungu’s constitution approach

The Zambia Congress of Trade Unions (ZCTU) has described Justice Minister Edgar Lungu’s willingness to discuss the stalled constitution making process as a step in the right direction.

ZCTU president Leonard Hikaumba has told Qfm News in an interview that Mr. Lungu’s stance gives hope to the constitution making process especially that the Zambian people have been waiting for the release of the final draft constitution for a long time.

Mr. Hikaumba says it important to wait and see what new thing will come out of the minister’s meeting with stakeholders in the constitution making process.

He adds that the new Justice Minister should try and establish were things have been going wrong in the efforts to come up with a people driven constitution.

The ZCTU president adds that the labour movement is happy and ready to support any positive steps towards the enactment of a people driven constitution.

Mr Hikaumba says a good constitution is the basis for a good legal framework for the country.
