Govt’s minimal interference of public media hailed

The Foundation for Democratic Process (FODEP) has hailed the ruling Patriotic Front (PF) for showing minimal interference in the operations of the public media since they took over office three years ago.

FODEP Executive Director MacDonald Chipenzi has told QFM News in an interview that the PF administration has had little interference in the operations of the public media compared to the time when the MMD was in power.

Mr. Chipenzi states that it is clear that the government has given the public media leeway to operate freely, despite some individuals attempting to manipulate the public media for selfish gains.

He says there is also need for the public media to rise to the occasion and give coverage to all political parties during election campaigns which he believes is still lacking.

Mr Chipenzi says the PF administration may not be perfect in all spheres but that when it comes to lack of interference in the operations of the public media, they should be commended.
