FODEP happy with Mining companies in North-Western province

The Foundation for Democratic Process (FODEP) Executive in Northwestern Province has expressed satisfaction with the manner mining companies in the region are giving back to the community in which they operate.

FODEP Provincial Chairperson Steward Bwembya says the mining companies have shown that they are not just extracting minerals from the area but have fostered a lot of development through their Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR).

Mr. Bwembya has cited the support given to agriculture cooperatives, construction of teachers’ houses as well as the sponsoring of teachers for further studies.

Meanwhile Mr. Bwembya has disclosed that the relationship between the mining companies and the locals in the province has improved.

He says this follows the sensitization that his organization has been doing which he says is aimed at ensuring that the two parties interact.
