Agriculture Minister Mtolo Phiri says farmers in all but 23 districts in the country have started receiving fertilizer and seed under the Farmer Input Support Program (FISP) for the 2021/2022 farming season.

The twenty three (23) districts are in western, southern and Lusaka provinces where farmers were previously receiving two bags of fertilizer under the e-voucher system while their counterparts under the direct input supply modality were receiving six bags.

In a ministerial statement on the Farmer Input Support Program (FISP), Mr Phiri says all farmers in the country will this farming season receive inputs directly and not through the e-voucher system to ensure equity were every farmer receives six bags of fertilizer and a 10 bag of maize seed.

He however, states farmers in the 23 districts are expected to start receiving their inputs next week as government has to directly purchase the inputs and distribute the same to farmers.

Mr. Phiri says the ministry of finance has since made money available for the direct purchase of inputs for the 23 districts.
