ACC excuse of poor funding is lame- Malambo

Zambian Youths Association in the Fight Against Corruption (ZYAFAC) has described as lame the excuse of poor funding by the Anti-Corruption Commission for its failure to effectively carry out its mandate.

During the launch of the 2019 Zambia Bribe Payers Index Report, ACC Chairperson Justice Anderson Zikonda said the commission is poorly funded thereby making it difficult to carry out its mandate effectively.

But ZYAFAC Executive Director Maurice Malambo says the Commission should stop using the lack of funding as an excuse for its inefficiency and incompetence.

Mr Malambo has wondered how poor funding can stop the commission from tracing the true owners of the 48 housing units it has seized in Lusaka.

He has told QTV that the Anti Corruption Commission should be reminded that there is no government department in Zambia that has received its full budgetary allocation due to the limited resource envelope.
