The Church remains best placed to lead dialogue – ZCCB

The Zambia Conference of Catholic Bishops (ZCCB) says the church remains best placed to lead the National Dialogue.

ZCCB Secretary General Cleophas Lungu says the Church still inspires the confidence of all stakeholders to lead the National Dialogue.

Father Lungu has disagreed with the suggestion that the church has been compromised by the resignation of Council of Churches in Zambia (CCZ) president Bishop Sydney Sichilima.

He has told Q-News that contrary to this assertion, Bishop Sichilima’s resignation has not weakened the moral standing of the church in anyway.

Father Lungu says the church mother bodies leading the national dialogue process will due course issue a comprehensive statement to clarify their position on the matter.

He notes that the ZCCB, the CCZ and the Evangelical Fellowship of Zambia (EFZ) intend to host a media breakfast during which they will also give an update on the National Dialogue.
