Winner of Sesheke by-election to be delayed until Wednesday

Declaration of the winner for the Sesheke Parliamentary by-election being held on Tuesday will  be delayed until Wednesday the 13th of February.

Electoral Commission of Zambia (ECZ) spokesperson Margaret Chimanse says results for 7 out of the 43 existing polling stations in Sesheke constituency will only be available on Wednesday.

Ms. Chimanse says the polling stations, which are not easily accessible, are either serviced by Chopper which cannot fly at night or accessible via the Zambia-Namibia border that closes at 18:00hrs.

She says Sonso School, Maunga SDA Church,  Katete community school, Mandila community school, Mbao Community School and Imusho and Chivula Primary Schools are the affected polling stations.

Ms. Chimanse has told Q-News in a statement that Sonso School, Katete Community school and Mandila Community school are serviced by air transport while the rest through the Zambia-Namibia border.

She states that the ECZ therefore calls for peace and calm ahead of the declaration of the winner for the Sesheke Parliamentary by-election.
