TIZ calls for the sacking of Chitotela

Transparency International Zambia (TIZ) has called on President Edgar Lungu to immediately relieve Housing and Infrastructure Development Minister Ronald Chitotela of his duties following his arrest by the ACC for corruption.

TIZ Chapter President Reuben Lifuka says it is desirable that the work of the acc is not fettered by having to deal with a serving cabinet minister.

Mr Lifuka says TIZ encourages the anti corruption commission and other law enforcement agencies to do their work without fear of favour.

He notes that the law enforcement agencies have an important role in ridding the country of the corruption and other wrong doings.

Mr Chitotela was arrested yesterday and charged with two counts of concealing property suspected of being proceeds of crime contrary to section 71 subsection (1) of the forfeiture of proceeds of crime act number 19 of 2010.
