Delay in setting Sales Tax ‘rate’ creating uncertainty – Mphuka

Government has been urged to hasten in setting the rate for the Sales Tax which comes into effect in April this year.

Economist Chrispin Mphuka is advising government to be cautious that the delay in setting the rate of this tax is creating uncertainty in the economy.

Dr. Mphuka, who is also former Economics Association of Zambia (EAZ) president says the Sales Tax will have an impact on planning and investment for firms doing business in the Country.

In an interview Dr. Mphuka has told QTV News via telephone that firms that want to invest in the Country need to be certain of what sort of environment the Sales Tax will create.

Dr. Mphuka states that it is therefore important that government moves fast in giving more details on the Sales Tax .

He says this is especially that April, the month in which this tax comes to effect, is now near.
