2018 has been a year of hardship- Masupa

Political Economist Bishop David Masupa has described 2018 as a year of hardship with high cost of living and unemployment being the leading problems.

Bishop Masupa who is also Independent Churches of Zambia (ICOZ) Board Chairperson says the year 2018 experienced what he termed as high unnecessary tariffs, skyrocketing of prices of goods and services.

Speaking to Q news, Bishop Masupa has also expressed concern over poverty levels in the country despite the country recording economic growth.

Bishop Masupa has therefore noted the need for government to go to the bottom line and do a survey and see how many people are suffering.

He has stressed that government should not think that the jobs they have created in the infrastructure sector, people are getting decent wages thus the urgent need to ensure that they do a survey so as to help them address poverty levels the country is grappling with.

The political economist has indicated that the people benefiting from these investment are investors and thereby leaving Zambians in abject poverty.

He has however proposed that government should come up with another policy that will compel them to ensure that in every investment, Zambians should have a share.

Bishop Masupa has complained that Zambians have not benefited from its natural resources a situation he said is uncalled for.
