Faustin Banda abandons UPND at nomination day

upndOpposition UPND candidate for the Kasenengwa Parliamentary by-election Faustin Banda has reportedly abandoned his party a few days before the filing of nominations.

Mr. Banda is believed to have run away with materials that were supposed to be used in his campaigns.

UPND Secretary General Stephen Katuka  has disclosed at a media briefing that the party does not know the whereabouts of Mr. Banda.

Mr. Katuka states that his party is now left with no choice but to report its candidate to the police for obtaining goods by false pretense.

He says the UPND is suspicious that the ruling PF may have had hand in the alleged flight of Mr. Banda..

Meanwhile National Democratic Congress NDC Secretary General Mwenya Musenge has disclosed that his  party will not participate in the Kasenengwa parliamentary by election set for next month.

Mr. Musenge says the party has suffered a setback after its preferred parliamentary candidate Sensio Banda was allegedly bought off by the ruling PF.
