President Lungu asks ZCID to accommodate the Church in the Dialogue process

President Edgar Lungu has appealed to the Zambia Center for Interparty Dialogue to immediately find the necessary space for the church to join the leadership of the dialogue process.

This follows united party for national development UPND Leader Hakainde Hichilema’s demands that the church should spearhead the national dialogue.

The Head of State has welcomed Mr. Hichilema’s affirmation that a locally driven process at the center of it is the way to go.

President Lungu has noted that since time immemorial the church in Zambia has been at the center of peace building and one salient example where the church played a pivotal is the dialogue process in 1990 when it brokered talks that helped Zambia’s peaceful transition from the one party state to the current multi party democratic dispensation.

According to president lungu’s Special Assistant for Press and Public Relations Amos Chanda, President Lungu has emphasized that the grand moment at the Anglican Cathedral at the holy cross remains an inviolable symbol of the power of dialogue because it left politicians am enduring memory of the boundless opportunity inherent in the human spirit
